Donations will either go towards a new pilot study at [email protected] (pending coin valuation), or back to the general fund for purchasing new servers at Stanford (as above).

This fund is set up to increase awareness of Endometriosis - affecting 170 million women worldwide. The Syndrome is linked to protein-misfolding. Click here to read about "Endo" and how CureCoin could help.

Note: [email protected] was contacted about this fund. Email confirmation was received on Feb 13, 2015.

For decentralization fans, you should realize this study would demonstrate how CureCoin and others could reduce the reliance of Universities on Government Funding (i.e. NIH and NSF). Giving the DCN community a "seat at the table" to prioritize research projects.

There are broad ranging implications of making this project a success - even if the first few tries require an injection of 'fiat' capital from visionary donors.

This could lead to better working relationships with governments, rather than just relying on them.

We'd like to encourage team members who shop on Amazon.com to chose "Worldwide Endomarch Inc" from Amazon's "Smile" charity selections.

Amazon's Smile donates a small portion of customer's purchases to charity their choice.

Amazon's Smile Charities

Worldwide Endomarch Inc

Click and hold on "Supporting:" in the upper left - then change it:
Type "Worldwide Endomarch Inc" in the "pick your own charitable organization text box".

Now when you shop at smile.amazon.com, all your purchases will support Worldwide Endomarch Inc. in Palo Alto.

We really like EndoMarch's multi-pronged approach to the disease, and it gives the CureCoin team exposure on multiple levels.

A heartfelt Thank You!

Our generous contributor PS3EdOlkkola donated 72,000 more CureCoins to split between the [email protected] and Endometriosis pilot study funds! That's on top of the generous donations made back in March.

For perspective, 72,000 CURE equates to over $10,000 USD worth of cloud computing power (although PS3EdOlkkola uses a large personal folding farm; for simplicity, the cost est. are based on Amazon's AWS EC2 economical spot pricing of g2.2xlarge at $.08/hour).

To donate earnings to [email protected] servers (Pande Labs).

To donate earnings to crowd-fund a new Endometriosis Pilot Study at Pande Labs.

Donations will either go towards a new pilot study at [email protected] (pending coin valuation), or back to the general fund for purchasing new servers at Stanford (as above).

We are working hard to put the funds to good use before the pre-determined deadline is reached.

Well, the Endometriosis study proposal is close to it's final termination date. At that time, the funds will start to be converted to donations back to Pande Labs.

A few notes ... we had team members post on both the foldingathome reddit and foldingforum - surprisingly there was never any reply to a request for feasibility. Without that, a crowdfund on Indiegogo became un-realistic. We have some theories of why the silence from Pande Group, esp since we did have positive input from a couple of molecular biologists outside the FAH eco-system.

Here are some of the Reddit and the FoldingForum posts (FF deprecated it as spam):

FoldingatHome Reddit - Endometriosis Short Version of the Study
FoldingatHome Reddit - Endometriosis Full Version of the Pilot Study Proposal
FoldingForum - Studying Endometriosis on [email protected]

I'll let team members make up their own mind why something affecting 170 million people and costing billions to treat around the world doesn't warrant even a raised eye-brow. A study like this could draw in many female participants. CureCoin has been working hard to attract women to join [email protected] - esp. since it is estimated that less than 3% of FAH contributors are female, while on the currency side (CureCoin), most of the shopping in the world is still done by women.

More women contributors would be a wonderful thing for both the research, and promoting monetization.
